Your legacy will not be forgotten and S.U.R.E Record Pool will continue as long as I am alive. 30 years I been with you and you will always be missed in my heart forever but never forgotten. You thought me everything about this business and was the first to give me my shot when I was 15 years old trying to get into S.U.R.E. You gave me my first position in the music business being Assistant Director of S.U.R.E. A position that I still hold until today. S.U.R.E. STARFLEET RECORD POOL
We’d like to take & moment to remember one of our old friends & fellow pool
director, Bobby Davis of S.U.R.E. Record Pool. Bobby passed away earlier
this week. He was a good friend, a great person & one of the pioneers in the
record pool business. We send our condolences to his family, his friends &
his DJs. Just know that Heaven has another great DJ with a laugh that will
have everyone smiling.
When Bobby was alive his life transformed many lives here on earth because of the love he had for people but what is more important were the lives that were transformed eternally because of his death. I know, first hand, that Bobby had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior so for me, and for those of you who had also accepted the Lord as your personal Savior this evening, it's not "goodbye Bobby" but "see you later Bobby."
I pray that the Lord comforts the Davis family with a comfort that surpasses all understanding!

This Morning a musical titan and my mentor passed away.
Bobby Davis not only had the best record pool in New York City, but he was a father figure to many DJ’s who didn’t know their way around in this music industry.
As a witness to this, his studio paved the way for me to produce my very first record and sponsor my WNYE radio show in the early 90’s.
He was known for records like Exodus ‘Together Forever’, and Alexis P. Sutter ‘Slam Me Baby’. His lasting legacy though, started in 1978 when he formed S.U.R.E. record pool.
He’d share stories of how people like Merlin Bob, Timmy Regisford, Funk Master Flex and others would work with the vision he had for the Pool.
His legacy continues on his site http://www.surerecordpool.com
His Pool always put the ‘personal touch’ with hundreds of DJ’s he serviced, at a time when DJ’s getting together in a record store looked like Cheers. This were the best of times for the DJ community and Bobby Davis’s pool was a healthy extension of that. The talent loved the fact that they could rock records no other DJ’s had, and give them the musical edge to push musical boundaries.
Competition? There was none! Bobby was the best!
I will miss you my brother. The world has lost someone special. Tonight I’m going to put on some Bobby D records and remember all the good times.
See you up there brother!

Hip Hop and Urban Music Pioneer Passes: Good Bye to Mr. Bobby E. Davis
http://insomniacmagazine.com/2010/12/hip-hop-pioneer-passes-good-bye-to-mr-bobby-e-davis/
It was brought to our attention the Mr. Bobby E. Davis, founder of the legendary S.U.R.E. Record Pool in the Bronx has passed away. Bobby was one of the nicest people in the music business. Since the ’70s, he’s supplied records to some of the most influential DJs in urban and dance music. His company was a staple for breaking records for decades in New York City. Bobby has also mixed many dance and club records since the early ’80s to 2000′s. I first met Bobby as a teenager in the Bronx. He was a great role model and mentor. He provided inspiration for inner city youths, aspiring musicians, artists, and DJs. Bobby was a positive force. He had an uplifting spirit and great personality. It is with sadness that I say goodbye, however, I am so happy to have known this wonderful man. Thank you Bobby. You will not be forgotten. -Israel Vasquetelle

- A great loss indeed! I too met Bobby when I was about 14 years old and he was always very nice and supportive of my endeavors. I actually got my first “protools” software package from Bobby. I remember him saying to me, “we got this program as a promo from this company but we already have everything we need here, so I immediately said to myself, CHARLES!, he’s a mac guy I know he could use this.” That week my eyes were opened to a whole new world. Also when I started filming Street Agent he was the first to say “greet Idea, make sure you get me enough for all S.U.R.E. members and a few extra for the execs.” That’s Bobby, thanks Bobby! I will miss him very much but feel privileged to have known such a good hearted and important individual and to be a part of the S.U.R.E. Record Pool Member roster for almost 25 years. My heart goes out to his family, friends and the entire composition of S.U.R.E. members. Peace! Charles “The One Prophloe” Perez
